What is the best way to get rid of a yellow jackets hive?

There are large yellow jackets crawling through holes in the eave of my porch. How do I get in there and destroy the hive with being swarmed by the bees?

you are probably seeing paper wasps… sometimes the nest is just inside of the hole so spraying any sort of insecticide in the hole at night can be helpful. You might try try taping a large baggie over the hole at night and mid morning you will have a number of them inside…carefully remove the baggie and trapped insects and do with them what you want to… even if is true yellow jackets you are seeing the nest will be made of just a small numbers at this time of year
