How To Pack For A Skiing Trip

If you are a first time skier, you will either find that you truly love the sport or prefer the beach and sun to the cold. Taking a ski trip can be a fun mini vacation and a way to get away for the weekend. If you have never been though, it is necessary to know how to pack.

When deciding on the best resorts remember to check on the other activities available in the area. Restaurants are not always available close to the lodge so if you want to eat out make sure some place will be close enough to get to. Do not forget to wear a leather watch for keeping track of appointments. If you have an instruction class scheduled, many instructors will not wait for those who show up late.

Knowing what to pack is the toughest part for first time skiers. Clothing should include thermal underwear, several long sleeve shirts, sweaters and socks that resist moisture. Do not forget to take a pair of women’s brown boots for keeping your feet snug and warm.

The temperatures fluctuate on the slopes so clothing should be worn in layers. If you get too bundled up and begin to sweat it will feel warmer than you really are, so do not remove too many layers at first. Always keep your jacket on, but if you get too hot remove a sweater and only wear a long sleeve shirt and coat.

There is no need to go out and purchase an expensive jacket designed specifically for skiing. Any down filled jacket with a snug fit will do just fine. Whatever jacket you decide on should not be loose; it should fit rather snug for keeping the wind away from the body.

You will also need to wear a hat to cover the exposed areas of your face. Keeping your face covered will protect you from wind burn. Also pack sun glasses or goggles, Chap Stick to protect your lips and the Lancome eye cream is great for keeping the area around your eyes protected from the wind.

Most facilities have rental skis available if you do not own one. Call ahead of time to verify if the resort you have chosen offers rentals. Many places have other activities such as snowboarding or sledding so verify the price and if they offer rentals on these items as well.

The most important thing to remember if this is your first trip to a lodge is to have a great time. When the snow becomes more than you can handle, go inside and sit by the fire to read a good book.
