Spring Summer Garden

Spring Summer Garden
If you spread out pre-emergent over a garden bed area during middle Spring or Summer ..will it be of any use ?

as most weeds sprout in early spring? how spreading Treflan or pre emergent over a bed area will do much anymore good if placed down in May, June or October for that matter? when is too late and why?

how common landscapers do this anyways when mulching bed areas in June or May etc? and reasons?

WHEN IS BEST TIME TO SPREAD OUT PRE EMERGENT HERBICIDES? AND WHY? HOW CAN TELL WHEN IS OKAY?

please xplain wha tyou can.

thanks for your answers!

Seeds begin to germinate generally when the SOIL temperature reaches 62 degrees Fahrenheit for 3 days. This happens earlier than you think. Once the seeds germinate, preemergents will not work. If you are working a new planting bed, it is prudent to apply a preemergent to prevent new weeds from sprouting. You can also use preemergents in the autumn at the time new weeds would be sprouting before going dormant for the winter.
