South Florida
How come South Florida is called South Florida but they are really in West Florida?
“South Florida” is a hour west of UCF so in reality it should be Western Florida or something like that
When the school was built.. 1950′s it was the most Southern university in the State university system…. UWF is in Pensecola… UCF in Orlando… UNF in Jax… U of Tampa a private school…
maybe a name like University of West Central Florida would have been more geographically correct but in the 1950′ there was Miami and then the “rest of Florida”
