Snowman Garden

What does it mean when you associate concrete things with abstract ideas?
For English class, we had to write what came to our mind when we thought of the words: Rose, Snow, & Night.
I said:
Rose- beauty
Snow-depth
Night-mystery
But when we had to share our answers with the class, everyone put words like “snowman” for snow, & “garden” for rose. I was like, “What?!” None of these words honestly occurred to me.
So my question is, why do I associate concrete things with abstract ideas? Does it mean anything that I think like this, or is just how my mind works?
It is difficult to know our mind and its peculiarities. I also agree. It is a mysterious substance. It can neither be considered a matter nor can it be considered a spirit. It is something unique. But there have been lot of people in history who have made best of the mind and its potentials. We should know how to be friendly with our own mind. One should not try to play with the mind.
