Of course it would be unnapropriate to read the bible to young children with all the genocide, infancide, people drinking their own faeces and piss, smashing children to death against rocks…

first of all, its spelled inappropriate. and it is appropriate to read the bible to young children. They should be the first to know about God’s great love for us so that they will continue to follow in good Christan ways as they grow up. You should reread the bible if all you think it has in it is violence and other the other disgusting stuff you mentioned.
Santa Claus is merely a fanciful image that is used to try to teach kids to be more generous and kind to others. Personally, I think that whole idea backfired though.
Being a 13 year old Christan, this is my opinion. I’ve read a few books of the bible and have read quite a few chapters in the other books. I’ve come across a few disturbing things, but none quite horrific enough to be deemed “inappropriate” enough to withhold an entire bible from a child. perhaps you could give them a children’s bible, it simplifies everything down and is short enough to read at night to them. I know I used to have one. It basically describes God’s love and Jesus’s purpose on the earth and why he had to die on the cross.
