If You Want To Improve Your Smile, Bleach Your Teeth

If your teeth are dull and yellow, you may try whitening them for a more attractive smile. More information on the topic of dentistry is located at dentist teeth whitening.

Many people aren’t pleased with the color of their teeth, which don’t create the kind of dazzling smile everyone dreams of. Tooth discoloration may be caused by biological factors (your genetics just did not provide for sparkling white teeth) or environmental factors, like coffee, red wine, or tea.

Should you have discolored teeth or if they are are simply not as white as you would like, you probably have been thinking about whitening as an answer to your situation. As we get older our teeth can become more yellow. A tooth whitening can make you look years younger!

Visiting your dentist is the first step to take for anyone thinking about whitening their teeth. The first step is for your dentist to make an impression of your teeth, top and bottom. Then it gets shipped out to a laboratory. More information on the topic of dentistry is located at laser whitening.

Lab technicians will them make a model of your teeth. Using this cast, a tray is fabricated using a plastic material. They will then shipp the tray to your dentist.

Your dentist can assist you in how to use your whitening kit and teach you how to use your trays. Using syringes, you’ll put whitening gel in the parts of the trays that correspond to the teeth you need to whiten. Before you go to sleep, simply position the trays over your teeth.

Continue the process until you obtain the preferred shade of white. In most instances, people will realize results almost immediately and the process will take no longer that two or three weeks. Some patients have tetracycline discoloration or fleurosis in the rare situation; these take longer term remedies of as long as two to six months.

If there is any dental work that needs to be taken care of, you should wait at least 2 weeks after your last whitening to stabilize your color. In most cases, this treatment is a onetime thing. It is not uncommon for patients to enjoy their whiter teeth for many years, without having to go through the process a second time.

There may be some tooth sensitivity at the beginning of the treatment. But this is typically bearable and will correct itself when the treatment is completed. In these cases, however, the use of Sensodyne toothpaste has been found to be effective.

There are over the counter whiteners as an option instead of going to the dentist, which are considered safe. You will probably not receive as desirable a result. These products will help with whitening slightly and reducing stains a bit.  You will not, however, achieve a great change in the shade of your teeth.

It is suggested that you seek out an at-home kit that contains plastic strips or a mold-able mouth tray. These give the user a custom fit, but can also be very expensive.

After you finish whitening your teeth, you must stay away from those things that can negatively impact your tooth color. Cigarettes, tea, red wine and coffee are just a few of the items to avoid. Always speak to your dentist if you suffer any pain, an extreme degree of sensitivity or abnormal gum irritation.
