why am I more patriotic than some home born Americans on this thing?

Wow, you people have no idea how good you have it and yet still bitch and complain about everything! Don’t get me wrong constructive criticism can help governments and society hear the voice of the people but dam! “Bush is a nazi, bush is evil, and bush is Satan”. “Oh we torture people whose only crime was blowing up civilians and shooting at soldiers how dare we” Is it just a trend with the kids these days? Like drugs or something
pampered, eh yeah cant argue there. america is much nicer than the crap hole I came from. so no argument there but new, no. deffinently not new.

I take it you are either a legal resident or natrualized citizen. This means that you know how bad it is in other places because you’ve lived there. We who were born on American soil tend to take our freedoms and blessings for granted because it’s all we know. We hear about the horrors of poverty and oppression in other parts of the world and we understand on a conceptual level. However, since we’ve never been there and lived through it, it’s never truly real for us.

I grew up in a good family. My best friend as a child had a good family. So naturally I assumed that everyone had a good family life. I of course heard about child abuse, alcoholic fathers, and poverty but I never saw it so it was never real for me. This left me free to complain about the few things I percieved as wrong with my family. It was not until I got to high school and had one girl-friend with an emotionally abusive father and another who’s family was close if not below the poverty line, that I realized just how good I had it.

Another problem is that most people don’t understand why America has it so good nor do they care to learn. This is largely due to the educational system. The schools in America do not teach how the economy works or how the actions of politicians affect the populace. People don’t understand that every time any government has tried to help the poor by providing more welfare, or medical care, or food stamps, or whatever, the economy has suffered for it. And as we all know if the economy takes a hit the poor are hurt the most. After all the boss isn’t gong to lay himself off.

As far as people believing that Bush is evil, they believe that because the media publishes that and again, they don’t care enough about what’s going on to understand how the world really works. If they understood the economy, politics and what’s truly at stake, then they would understand why Bush does what he does. They still may not agree with it but at least they would understand and would realize that he’s doing the best that can be done given the mess we have to deal with. However, the media will never say that because that’s not what sells papers or air-time.

Also, who makes the biggest noise: those who hate Wal-Mart, or those who love Wal-Mart? There are thousands of websites about the evils of Microsoft yet I notice that most people still use Windows. Any time someone is successful, people will tell you, very loudly, what they’re doing wrong. There are plenty of people that apporve of Bush. We just aren’t as loud about it.

As far as the torture goes, you have to realize that these are the same people who think it’s wrong to spank naughty children. Many of them believe that solitary confinment and public humiliation are cruel punishments. They do not understand what torture is.
