Why did Obama flip-flop on surrender in Iraq?

WASHINGTON — A key adviser to Senator Obama’s campaign is recommending in a confidential paper that America keep between 60,000 and 80,000 troops in Iraq as of late 2010, a plan at odds with the public pledge of the Illinois senator to withdraw combat forces from Iraq within 16 months of taking office

He promised surrender as soon as he took office. What happened?
(I don’t actually believe he would keep troops in Iraq BTW, he’s too much of a traitor. He’s probably just trying to appeal to patriotic Americans with this insincere statement after having alienated them for the past several weeks)
Both Obama & Hillary were deceiving us. It is catching up with them and we are getting wiser. They have both realized, as has the Democratic Congress, that this is no simple matter. It’s time the American people deal with reality. Why keep falling for the same old lies. If we ever needed truth, we need it now. Otherwise, how can we ever unite this Country? This division is self-defeating.
Yes, let’s work toward getting our troops home but demonizing everything regarding the war is not accomplishing anything.
