How long does it take for a palm tree seed to grow?

About how long after you plant a seed for palm tree would it take to grow to average size? Which on e grows th e quickest?

Some palm seeds take up to two years to germinate and usually the seed method is left up to commercial growers. It can also take years before a germinated seed takes on the characteristics of what we know to look like a palm tree. Since some palms have only one “trunk” you may have to buy it at a nursery and get the largest one you can afford.
There are other palms that send up suckers around the main trunk which can be removed with a sharp knife (when they have three or more leaves) and planted in equal parts of peat moss and sand to be rooted. As long as you keep the “soil” moist and not soggy – the suckers should root. You will know they have become established when you begin to see new growth. Be patient, it can take twelve weeks or more for them to set roots and putting them in a clear plastic bag will help hold in moisture. Once you see new growth, open the plastic bag for longer and longer periods, each day, until it is open for 24 hours – then the bag can be removed and you will be on your way to having a second, third, or fourth palm.
