Large star on the outside of a home, the meaning?

What does a large star on the outside wall of a home mean, is there a meaning or it is just decoration?

These are called Barn Stars, and have no particular symbolic meaning. They are popular in the U.S., possibly because of the 5-pointed star’s association with the American flag and other patriotic images.
