Large Outdoor Flag

Ducks, Chickens or Quails?
I have an unused dog kennel outside, its nice and roomy with an indoor and outdoor section both roofed, the outside has been flagged as it was easier to clean when we had our husky in it, and the indoor is wooden floored. Now its empty and we were thinking about whether it was suitable to house some sort of egg laying bird? Maybe just a couple. Which would be best as we live on an estate and we wouldnt want very loud bird incase of complaints, i will try and find a picture of our dog kennel or something similar online and attach a link. Please say whether you think it suitable for poultry. Thanks

Hello,
I will give you my opinion. I am a chicken and duck person, but if you want something that is going to be a help to you or your family, chickens are the way to go. They lay eggs and you can eat them and cook with them ETC… Ducks are just something to look at unless you like to eat duck eggs. Chickens can start laying at 6 months, Ducks can to,and Quails are about 5-6 mths. But you have to think about this, Chickens lay just about everyday and there are chickens out there that do lay everyday, Ducks may lay everyday and Quails may lay every day. In my opinion.
But you have to think that chickens and ducks have large eggs, Quails have small eggs…really small eggs and it will take a while to get up enough for anything.
here is some info that i know of from experience…
If you want chickens that will lay everyday even in the winter you need black and red star hens. if you want babies you need one rooster to every 5 hens, Black and red stars are large chickens, if you want something smaller you will need bantams, they are smaller and they lay smaller eggs.
Ducks honestly i have never had any get big enough to lay so i really dont know that much about them
Quails, quails are hard to keep they will peck each other to death if you have to many or they are to hot or to cold… they are not really enjoyable they dont do anything and they make lots of noise and weird noises at that….
hope i helped
