is the red black and green flag racist?

now i thought i understood what it was and what it meant. i always considered the colors to stand for unity and pride. so i made a bracelet out of red black and green hemp and my mom (who is white) saw it and lectured me on how it was an anti-white hateful flag and everything. i am the furthest thing from racist, and i believe hate is a wasted energy, so i refuse to spend it on those that hate me just because of my skin color. i am half white and half black, but society see’s me as an Afro-American, which i am not ashamed of. so how can i explain to my mom that its not racist towards white people??

A flag is cloth, an inanimate object. It can’t think, so it can’t be racist.

However, how it is used can be racist. It’s use with no other information may be perceived in some contexts as racist.

Without knowing what country you are in, it’s hard to know what environment people will be in when viewing this flag – and therefore there is no way to know how they will react.

Perhaps you are in South Africa and you are referring to the Universal NeQgro Improvement Association?

Personally, I do NOT believe its use is racist, but I believe that some racists might. That is, if you think the condition of the average NZegro should not be improved, you might find an organization that does offensive.

And of course, any large organization may have members that act obnoxiously and then all of a sudden the organization takes on a bad image.
