Happy Holidays

Happy Holidays
Christians, why do you get upset when someone says Happy Holidays instead of Merry Christmas?

The same thing goes for Atheists when someone says Merry Christmas instead of Happy Holidays. Don’t both sayings basically mean the same thing? Would you still get upset if the person saying either one to you meant well and said it with kindness?

I don’t. I’m a Christian, and I say “Happy Holidays”. I live in an area that has quite a few non-Christians, so “Happy Holidays” covers all the bases. I get invited to a lot of different winter holiday observances, both Christian and non-Christian, so I’m quite aware that there’s more than one holiday being celebrated during this time of year. Whatever holiday greetings people may extend toward me, I accept it graciously, since there’s a very good chance that I’ve celebrated the holiday in question with friends.
