Gold Eagle

How much is a 1901 liberty gold eagle coin worth?
It is in perfect condition
What looks perfect to you I guarantee is not perfect. There has never been a 1901 that graded higher than MS67, which is three grades below perfect, and there is only one of those in the world. There are just 26 examples of the next lowest, MS66, and those are valued at $10,000+. The lowest mint state grade, MS60, is worth around $950. There’s not a huge difference in price between a VF35 and a MS60, less than $100. It’s when you get to MS62 and higher that values start to spike.
If you have one, have a dealer give you his opinion of the grade, and if he thinks it’s at least an MS62, it would be worth sending to PCGS. An MS 62 is valued at around $70 more than the MS60, which will cover the cost of grading. But the value of the next grade, MS63, jumps about $600, and an MS64, about $700 more than that.
