Bridal Details That Sparkle
A sparkling, shimmering wedding is festive and exciting. It’s easy and affordable to make your wedding sparkle. On your big day, add sparkle, shimmer, and shine with these bridal details.
Of course, the bride should sparkle more than anyone at the ceremony! Start with a bridal gown with silver embroidery and crystal beading. Then add a veil with a beaded edge, crystal earrings and a necklace, and bridal shoes with a crystal accent. Don’t stop yet; you can also wear a delicate crystal beaded headband in the bridal hairdo, crystals in the bride’s bouquet, and even one of the fabulous new bridal handbags designed by Judith Leiber. Of course, you won’t want to leave your bridesmaids out of the fun, so treat them to gorgeous crystal earrings as their bridesmaid gifts, and tie their bouquets with shimmering sheer silver organza ribbon. Metallic shoes for bridesmaids are a nice, chic touch, and are versatile enough to be worn again.
A fun, festive way to invite guests to your wedding is to send invitations with some shine. Opt for metallic gold, silver, or copper colored ink for the invitation wording, as well as a coordinating ribbon band wrapped around the stationery. Invitations with a touch of glitter on the edge add even more shimmer. This would be especially pretty for stationery with a deckled edge. One bride I know chose crystal earrings for her jewelry, then chose to add a tiny row of crystals to her invitations to match. Last but not least, line the invitation envelopes with a metallic or pearlescent paper to make them more shiny and very elegant.
Sparkly accents to wedding flowers always looks gorgeous, which is why it’s become very popular. A crystal tipped pin in the center of each flower of the bouquet is the simplest way. This has long been done with pearl tipped pins, especially for stephanotis blossoms, and the crystals are a great update to an old custom. Brides wearing crystal earrings and necklaces often find that this is a wonderful complement to their bridal ensemble. An easy way to add crystals is to drape strands of AB crystals on bouquets or in the bouquet handle.
You can make your wedding flowers really shine with glitter edged accents. Whether with either flowers like roses or other non-floral elements like pinecones, it works beautifully. Simply dip the very edges of the petals in glue and then dip into glitter. Use them anywhere, from the ceremony to the centerpieces to the cocktail hour room. Glitter dipped flowers or pinecones are going to be more economical than crystal-jeweled flowers in large numbers, so some brides will use the glitter flowers for centerpieces and reserve the crystal ones for their bouquets to complement their crystal earrings. Glitter doesn’t have to be restricted to your floral decorations. Your flower girl can have everything from glittery shoes to a fun, glittery manicure– but only the flower girl!.
There are innumerable other ways to make your wedding shine with differnt accents. Layer shimmery organza toppers over white tablecloths to give them character. Use mirrors around the room to reflect details such as cut crystal candelabras or chandeliers. Have fun making your wedding festive and sparkly.
