Yadavindra Garden – a tranquil haven of nature

Located in a beautiful valley overlooking the Shivaliks, Pinjore is a residential “township” in India free of bustling city crowds, which creates the ideal setting for physical well-being as well as the tranquillity of mind and spirit. But the primary feature of this city is Yadavindra Garden, which is one of the most popular picnic spots in this region. It comprises a plants nursery, mini zoo, a Japanese garden, picnic lawns and historic places.

Once you enter the gardens, flagged pathways and shady walks will take you on a journey through shapely cypresses, Palm trees, dense and Mango groves of trees, a traipsing watercourse which sparkles in the light of the sun, pools reflecting the bright glowing pavilions and balconies imprinted high reaching the blue sky.  The graceful tinkling fountains and arched balconies, whispering  watercourse and lavish greenery, limpid pools, colourful flowerbeds, unique descending terraces and epic gateways- all were expertly planned to create a magical effect.

The sheer charm of purple-green Himalayas rising up over ramparts of the garden walls enchants the visitors while the never-ending rhythmic murmurs of the watercourse flowing under the towering Rang Mahal adds more intensity to the setting’s magnificence.

Designed by the ever so great architect Nawab Fadai Khan, this idyllic garden has been chosen as the venue for hosting the annual Mango festival and Baisaki festival. Usually open from 7am to 10pm, the garden is brightly illuminated at night.

Recently, the doorway’s end structure was transformed into a disc-like open-air theatre. Yadavindra Gardens represents one of the most travelled jaunts from Chandigarh.  There is a bar, restaurant, and conference facilities available here to provide convenience to the visitor. This is the ideal place for the nature lover and the traveller who is seeking a getaway from the urban rush.
