Fun Garden

Hot dogs for a fun July garden wedding?
We don’t have much money, so we are trying to keep our wedding small, like a joyful party to celebrate our love. I’ve been trying to come up with ideas for what we could serve at our reception and being as we are doing this in July (outdoor grilling season) we could have hot dogs for our guests. Does this sound like it would be something memorable, in a good way, for our families and friends? Is there any way at all to dress hot dogs up, even just a little? If hot dogs are too trashy, could you recommend something else? Keep in mind that we don’t have much money at all, and are really focusing on our life together after the wedding.
Hot dogs are fine if your wedding is a light fun affair that won’t be stuffy and formal. Do remember, some folks don’t eat meat or like hot dogs. So have veggie-dogs or vegetable skewers on hand for the guests who don’t like the hot dogs. To make it a little more formal, search some antique or thrift stores for pretty, but inexpensive candy dishes and spoons you can use for holding and serving the condiments. After the wedding, you’ll also have some nice dishes to use for candies/decorations/holding keys or rings. We’re doing a similar deal at our October wedding. Since we’re getting married at a lake that has tons of grills available, we’re doing a big cookout/picnic type thing. Burgers and veggie burgers, potato salad, veggie platter ect…. you know food 99% of people truly enjoy eating. I think the food at half the formal weddings we went to was gross, and never anything I would have ordered off a menu or made at home. Personally, I think guests would be more appreciative of food they recognize and like eating.
