Full Size Applique
Quilting a full-size quilt, is every 6 inches enough quilting?
I threw away the package the batting came in, but I think it said quilt every four inches. I only remember that it is polyester and low loft. I am doing stitch in the ditch and my blocks are 6 inches. Do you think that is enough quilting?
Plus: on the backing, I appliqued three big puzzle pieces and I am not going to quilt over them…the thread shows up really bold and looks tacky when I stitch into them, so I am just skipping over them as I come to them…will this work??
Its hard to be sure without the batting instructions, but most polyester low-loft batting that I’ve used did ok at 6″, even if I just tied the quilt. If you could go back to the store and find the same type batting you can see what it says.
As for the applique, if it is very large you will need to do some kind of sewing in it. If skipping over them leaves a large unquilted section, you will need to find a way to add some stitching to it. If skipping over them doesn’t leave a section larger than the 6″ blocks, it should be ok.
