Flag Sign

Road construction: the guy with the flag or stop sign, is he a newbie? Or a vet? Is that a good position?

or a lame one? What’s the road crew heirarchy?

I did that job for two summer right after high school, It is generally held by the low man. Believe it or not, in Virginia you have to pass a test before you can hold up the sign.

It is also possible to sit down on the guard rail and take a nap while holding the sign between your legs, especially if you are on a road with very little traffic.
