Gideon Banner/Flag?

I’m only writing because my daughter has tried so hard to research this. Her Drill Sgt. wants her squad to write a 500 word essay on the Gideon Banner or flag or something like that. Maybe she is not spelling “Gideon” the correct way, I’ve tried to Google it but found nothing. Anyone have any ideas where to start? NOT asking for answers of what to write for the essay, just want a place to START looking.

i think she might be referring to the word GUIDON

a GUIDON is a type of flag i know the military use
