Fall Flag

I have an old WWII flag and its starting to fall apart. How could I get this flag preserved?

Keep it out of the sun. That is the most important thing you can do this instant to preserve it.
Keep from handling it as much as possible. The oils in your hands can lead to more damage.
When you do handle it, be very gentle with it & be sure to wear cotton gloves.
Keep it in a temperature controlled environment. Don’t put it in your basement or an attic.
Archival Safe containers would be best to store your flag in. Use Acid Free Tissue to wrap your flag.
If you’d like to put it in a glass frame/shadow box, make sure there is a spacer between your flag and the glass.
If you want to clean it contact a local museum. They may sell a cleaner, or help lead you in the right direction.
We used to use a brand called Forever New. it was gentle on historic textiles.http://www.forevernew.com/
Don’t take it to be cleaned at the cleaners. They could use hard cleansers that could cause more damage.
Hanging your flag to display can cause weight bearing damage. You may want to lay the flag flat for display or at an angle.
