Is East Carolina in the running for a national championship?

If they run the table, shouldn’t they get a shot at the title game. Yes, they are a small-conference school, but they have a brutal non-conference schedule and have already defeated two ranked schools.

As much as a Pirates fan I am they’re not. The BCS is so screwed up. If they were from the Big East of ACC then maybe. But since they’re in CUSA they have no shot.

On top of that, and it burns me to say this, they will lose one or two games they should win. And for all the people who say they have a weak rest of the schedule your wrong. Southern Miss, UCF, Houston, Memphis, and NC State are all good teams. Virginia hasn’t been impressive so far so I left them off the list. Plus they have a history of losing to nobody’s in the last two games in the season. (Rice two years ago and Marshall last year). Plus if everything goes as scheduled in conference play they would have to play a team like Tulsa in the CUSA Champioship Game. They have a brutal schedule left. My Pirates will probobly lose a game but still finish in the top 20 or 15. They’ll go 13-1 and maybe get an invitation to the Big East Conference in the next couple years.
