what happens if i dont give 4 weeks notice?

i am currently working part time and my contract says i must give 4 weeks notice. I am intending to start my full time job in around 2 weeks time. Can my current employer do anything if i just give 2 weeks or just leave after the two weeks?? i dont mind about pay or anything.

You always want to keep good relations with your past employers because they may serve as references when you get a new job. If you leave 2 weeks earlier than specified in your contract, your manager may give a bad reference for you. Just talk to the manager, tell her/him that you are sorry and that this job won’t wait and that you were only given 2 weeks. It’s better to let them know ASAP.
