The population has exploded in recent years. In 1930 the population was 1,256,000. In 1952 the population was 2,497,000. The populatioin now is around 10,000,000. The Dominican Republic is a net exporter of people. Thousands of people migrate to Europe and the Americas every year. If people were not able to migrate to other countries then the Dominican Republic would be in a crisis situation because there would be too many people on the Island.
