Big Fabric or Linen Store near Bay area, CA.?

Any one know big Fabric or Linen store? I am looking for 60oz poly/nylon padding (1/2 inch thick) and some think polyester cover cloth. Can’t find in any store like Joann or arts and craft store. Is there like special store for commercial tailor or big fabric cover maker go to?

A half-inch thick batting is going to be horrible to iron on.. the fabric that you’re ironing will distort because of the “cush” and weight of the iron.

If you’d like to do it like a pro, you can go the old fashioned way and use a few layers of wool flannel or a couple of layers of wool coating or army blanket as a pad, and then cover it with cotton duck, muslin, or linen. The wool absorbs the heat and steam, letting the fabric dry and cool and remain in the pressed form.
Wool is also naturally flame resistant, and self-extinguishes when the source of ignition is removed, a natural safety factor. And scorched wool smells really bad, a good pre-fire warning.

If you’d like to go high tech, the surface a number of people like are these needle-punch fleece pads and nomex cover from Golden Hands:

60 oz? Or 6.0 oz? (A standard lap quilt, 60×60″, would then weigh about 10.5 lbs if you used 60 oz batting.) By padding, I’d guess you mean something like a needlepunch batting?

Most of the SF bay area fabric stores are geared to consumer fabrics… it sounds like what you really are looking for is a jobber, and I wonder if there are many left down there, considering real estate prices.
