Is the coast guard more willing to grant waivers for a female?

My coast guard recruiter said the coast guard is short very short of woman so if a woman needs a waiver, that are more likely to get one than a male. Is this true?

If your recruiter said it, it’s true. There is no reason not to trust your recruiter – they have no incenitive to lie, as they can currently fill their quotas easily and specific individuals currrently need the service more than the service needs any one specific individual.

Keep in mind, there are limits to everything. If it’s a “small” waiver (for example, a dependent waiver if married with two kids), that’s probably doable. If you need a waiver for a felony conviction – forget it, I don’t care who you are. Some things are possible to get a waiver for, some things are not. Your recruiter will know the difference.
