Build A Storage Shed And Clean Out Your Garage

An attached garage is a great addition to almost any home, but often it becomes too easy to throw everything not needed at the moment into the garage. Many garages become so packed with storage items that it becomes impossible to use the garage for its intended purpose, parking the cars out of the weather. When this happens, it is time to consider new places to store your goods.

One way that you can free up your garage is by building a garden storage shed. Many municipalities allow homeowners to build a small storage shed under one hundred square feet in their back yards or gardens without having to purchase permits. These sheds make a handy place to store all kinds of things.

A storage shed is the perfect place to store all your lawn care equipment. The shed is an ideal place for hand tools such as shovels and saws or lawn care equipment including lawn mowers and the lawn vacuum.

There are many seasonal items that are used in the home that may need a place to be stored out of the weather. Some of the items to consider are Christmas or other decorations, home space heaters and window air conditioning units.

When you start cleaning out the garage, you may find items that you no longer need. Items such as fitness exercise equipment can often be sold at yard sales to free up even more space in the garage. If you do not find enough for a full blown yard sale, try listing the items on Craigslist or in the classified advertisements of your local newspaper. Get rid of the excess and get some extra cash.

Many people find that placing a door on either end of the storage shed gives easier access to the items that are in the storage shed. Plan to spend some money when building a storage shed, but realize that the building will quickly pay for its self, especially when compared to rental facilities. In only a few months you would pay more for storage rental than to build a very nice shed.

Cars that are parked inside a garage last longer and are safer than those that are parked outside. During the summer, the garage protects the finish and upholstery of the vehicle from the damaging rays of the sun. In the winter, the garage keeps you from having to scrape frost and snow off the vehicle.
