Christmas Angel

Why is it that we who celebrate christmas put a angel on top of the tree?

Can’t we put something else other than that like Jesus Christ or something else religious?

the angel is a symbol of the birth of Jesus- remember we ARE celebrating his birthday! When Jesus was born the angels from heaven proclaimed his birth for all to hear ( just because the shepherds were the only people OUTSIDE to hear doesn’t mean it was just for them!)
It’s the same reason people put a star on top of the tree- both are symbols of things that announced his birth!
