What causes a car window to shatter for no apparent reason?

I have a ’01 Nissan Sentra. After parking the car, I got out and closd the door, and the back window shattered. It was not a hot or sunny day, but it was pretty humid. Any ideas what could have caused this to happen. Prior to it shattering, there was no apparent damage to the window.

I am not 100% certain, but MY guess is that since auto glass is not like house glass, it cannot handle drastic temperature differences, as when your car is super heated inside (hot day) and cool on the outside. This causes it to expand unevenly???? That’s my guess
