What happens if I forget to sign my California state tax return?

I sent both my federal and state tax returns in without signing them. It was my first time having them prepared by someone else and I totally forgot. I received a packet today with both my federal and california state tax return stapled together. With an envelope to mail them to the IRS. Is that normal?

Just sign the returns and mail them to the proper places and everything will be OK.
