Garden Bird Baths

There is nothing that can make you feel closer to planet earth than watching the beauty of nature in action. It can be serene to watch all of the varieties of birds fly about through the sky and then land in your yard as they search for food or sing in unison along with all of their other bird friends. One way to attract more birds to your yard is by adding bird baths. Including bird baths in your yard also helps birds stay cool during the summer and gives them places to stop for a few drinks as they break in between their flights.

If you have a flower garden, you can also place garden bird baths throughout it too. Be sure to plant types of flowers that may attract birds or butterflies. Some flowers that attract birds include daisies and zinnias. Once you start having birds coming by to use the bird baths and enjoy the seeds from flowers, it will be like your own personal nature channel to watch.

Throughout the hot summer months, as birds travel, they too need places to rest and stay cool. When the weather is dry, it becomes harder to find nearby puddles for a quick stop. They may have to wait until they reach a nearby pond or lake in order to cool off. If homes placed more garden bird baths nearby, birds would have more places to stop off for a quick drink and bath.

While birds do get hot during the summer months, they also need a place to warm up and catch a drink in the winter too. If you have extra equipment, you can purchase heated bird baths or find a way to keep the water warm enough so birds can take a bath without freezing. Just as humans, birds also enjoy keeping clean and need to dust off occasionally too. Birds also enjoy nice long drinks of water to get them to their next destination too.

When you set up a bird bath, just be sure that it somewhere that a bird can easily spot, and be sure to weigh it down with plenty of sand. You don’t want birds falling over if too many decide to get inside.
