Appliqued Embroidered
Question about a rag quilt/embroidery…..?
Hi. I am planning to make a rag quilt using this pattern and instructions:

Instead of doing a star applique, I want to embroider. I want to know how I can still sandwich it all together if I embroider. Can I still sew an “X” like the other pieces? Or do I need to do it differently?

I would embroider the blocks first, then sandwich them and stitch an X on the blank pieces, and an O on the embroidered pieces, with the embroidery in the center of the O. That way it looks planned, and the quilting doesn’t interfere with your embroidery. An X right through your embroidery would spoil the effect.
