Question about a flagpole bracket…?

I recently got the Valley Forge White cast aluminum 13-position adjustable flagpole bracket for my new flagpole and I read 2 negative reviews about it on amazon.com. Now those were the only reviews about it that I could find so i don’t know if they were fake reviews or not. So if anyone out there has ever had this item, could you tell me if it was good and sturdy (if it could withstand winds and not break)? If something was wrong with it, what was that? You know it would REALLY surprise me if it was a crappy product because Valley Forge is the top of the line brand when it comes to Flags, flagpoles, and hardware for those. Also because the Government only uses Valley Forge flags for display at important buildings such as the capitol, white house, etc… So has anyone ever owned this item?

I’m thinking that you’ve got an adjustable bracket, with two mating notched or grooved surfaces that can rotate and be secured with a winged nut or fastener on the side. They are an attempt to be “all things to all people”, which usually ends up as a compromise in any given application. If you’ve already purchased it and put it up, fine. As time goes by, you’ll understand the basic position you really want the flag pole to have – typically either 90 degrees to the wall, straight out, or about 45 degrees up from the wall. If/when the one you have fails (won’t tighten up or the cast metal breaks), replace it with a solid one-position bracket. (Mines solid brass, screwed to a solid post with three 1/4″x2″ screws, so far holding up to 60 mph gusts.)

P.S. – If you have trouble with the flag wrapping itself around the pole, there’s a great product called a “No Furl” kit that allows the flag to turn freely and prevent that.
